A big welcome to Eija Väliranta!
Eija is ID BBN’s newest copywriter and resident Artificial Intelligence (AI) expert, a media and marketing professional with over 20 years in communications. She is excited to have joined the team at ID BBN. “I really like it here,” she says. “The atmosphere is very supportive, international and creative. There’s lots that I’m already good at, like copywriting, social media brand management and PR…then there’s the other side. I’m learning about marketing automation, predictive marketing and currently focused on AI.”
Eija has a strong journalistic background obtained as a writer for Apu magazine, working at a publishing house for 10 years and as a freelance journalist. She also has a degree in photography from University of the Arts London. Eija is switching gears, however, having recently completed Helsinki University’s Elements of AI course online, reportedly the university’s most popular course ever. She plans on following up with the sequel course in 2019.
Eija is a lifelong learner and has studied in Victoria, Canada; Oslo; Helsinki; London; and St. Paul, USA. The Helsinki native and her fiancée made the move to Turku a year and a half ago. This isn’t her first time in Finland’s gateway to the West, however. Eija studied communications in Turku in the early 90s and managed communications for the Down By The Laituri festival in 2000.
Eija and her fiancée both enjoy boating and nature, but being a city girl Eija needs a regular culture fix—music, the arts, restaurants and cafés. Turku fits the bill for both. She joined ID BBN in early August after working two hectic weeks at the #HELSINKI2018 Meeting. “I used to work for Helsinki Marketing and my old team called me back to help with the communications when the Meeting was announced. It was a summer job I will always remember.”
Since August, Eija has learned how ID BBN fits into the larger BBN network of agencies worldwide and the value that represents.
“Joining ID BBN has been very natural,” she says. “This agency is filled with true professionals and the orientation program is very well planned and executed. I feel like a member of the family already.”
